Mission

Provide serious wrestlers in Greater Portland and surrounding areas with the skills, coaching, and experience they need to succeed at the elite levels of state, regional and national competition.

Program

Team members will receive coaching in the essential skills, techniques and tactics of Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling as well as crossover skills and techniques in Folkstyle. Practicing and competing in international styles is a proven catalyst for rapid improvement in Folkstyle wrestling. Wrestlers will attend two team practices per week and compete in tournaments in Maine and northern New England. They will receive personal instruction and development plans they can follow throughout the year.

Philosophy

Our philosophy can be broken down into two simple tenants. First, the best indicators for success in all areas of life are a positive attitude and maximum effort. Wrestling is no different except that these two inputs may be even more important on the mat. The best wrestlers realize if they focus on the aspects of wrestling they can control the wins will take care of themselves.

Second, great wrestlers build their success on a foundation of essential skills, solid position and fundamental techniques. The best wrestlers in the world constantly hone these elements of their game and then add advanced techniques that complement their individual style. We will help wrestlers build their foundation and develop their individual style so they can continuously improve.

Good Afternoon – My name is Rachel Rac and I have a 5th grader who is interested in doing more with wrestling. He has wrestled for 5 years now and has a few team mates who either attend or have attend your programs. Steve Labrecque asked you about space for him but at the time there was no one his size to wrestle with. Do you have anyone his size yet or do you have any information on a 2012 summer program that we may be able to get him into. He is serious about it and wants to improve. Any information you can provide would be helpful. Thank you in advance for your time.

      Hi Rachel,
We are getting ready to launch a freestyle program for kids in grades K-5. I think that will work perfectly for your son. We will be posting information to this site and sending out emails later this week. Thanks.
