Youth Wrestling Registration
The Portland Youth Wrestling (PYW) Sharks is a competitive team for kids in grades K-5 from all around Greater Portland. There is also a Middle School Team for 6th graders. We focus on teaching important life lessons through the sport and building a foundation of wrestling fundamentals that will serve the athletes well in every level of competition.
Our teaching and competitive environment is suitable for beginners and experienced wrestlers alike. Athletes compete in dual meets and tournaments throughout Maine and are eligible for the New England Championships tournament held each spring at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
One of the great aspects of wresting is the use of weight classes. It allows kids of all sizes to compete with others on a safer, more equal playing field. In youth wrestling, athletes are also paired by age and experience level further leveling the competition. Wrestling demands a level of commitment, focus and discipline that’s unlike many other sports. Kids that embrace it can find success in wrestling and in life.

i can’t seem to find your address to send in the registration.
You can just bring the registration in on the first day of practice or mail it to 81 Roaring Brook Rd. in Portland, ME 04103
Do you have an email list that I can get on? My oldest son does wrestling and I think my youngest son would be very interested in joining. I had no idea there was a youth wrestling!
Sure, I’ll add you to our list.
Is it too late to sign up for the 12 week wrestling session? Even if it’s not too late, can we bring our son to a practice and check it out to see if it’s something he might be interested in?
Thanks,
Heather
It’s not too late to sign up for the program. You can come by practice and we can work out a pro-rated registration fee.
Are you doing a Spring program? Thanks!
We are planning it now. It will be roughly 6 weeks and have a freestyle focus.
MJ,
We just posted registration information for our youth freestyle session tonight.
