Upcoming Events for Portland Youth Wrestling

1. We will have Tuesday practice this week in preparation for our intersquad scrimmage on Wednesday. Practice will happen at the regular time in the PHS gym.

2. The intersquad scrimmage will happen Wednesday during the PHS vs. Biddeford High School meet. Please plan to arrive around 5 pm as we would like to have the kids wrestle around 5:40 (before the high school match). Wrestlers will be paired with a teammate and will wrestle for the “first takedown” on the high school mat. There may be multiple matches going at once. This should be a fun, low pressure event for all the kids. No wrestlers are required to participate but everyone is encouraged to attend and stick around for the high school match.

3. This Sunday (1/29) is the Matt T Rix Memorial Youth Tournament at Marshwood. There will be a number of Portland Youth wrestlers there. We have submitted a roster that includes all of our wrestlers so your child is pre-registered in case you decided to go. If you do go, please let them know you are pre-registered with Portland Youth Wrestling and pay your wrestler’s registration at the door. Here are the details: January 29, 2012, open to k-6 at Marshwood High School, weigh ins are from 7-8 am, wrestling begins at 9 am, registrations are $12 per wrestler this year.
