Portland Youth Wrestling vs. Hammerhead Wrestling
Last night nearly 30 wrestlers made the trip to York for a dual meet against Hammerhead Wrestling Systems. Our experienced wrestlers showed off their typical tough style and sportsmanship but it was the new wrestlers that really stole the show. They brought a never quit attitude with the skills they’ve been learning on the practice mat and found a lot of success in what was, for most of them, their first competition of the season. Congratulations to all who participated.
Thank you Hammerhead wrestlers for your sportsmanship, hard wrestling and for hosting a first-class event!
Great quote from Hagerty Wrestling
Win the battle for positioning. Win that scramble, win the whistle. Win the details, and the rest will take care of itself.
York Dual Meet (2/3/12)
Our meet withYork’s Hammerhead Wrestling will happen Friday evening instead of practice. Right now we have a list of 21 wrestlers planning to compete. If you didn’t talk with David or me about competing and your child wants to wrestle, please respond via email before noon today. Singlets are not required for this event (or any event we participate in). Your wrestlers should have their shoes, headgear and a mouth guard, if they wear one.
The meet will start around 6:30. Try to arrive between 6:00 and 6:30. If you think you’re going to be a few minutes late please let us know so we can schedule your match for later in the meet. Here are directions compliments of the York Coach:
Take I-95 S to the York Tolls. Make a left off the ramp and cross back over the highway. Take a left on Rt. 1. Make a right at the first set of lights onto Old Post Rd. Follow for approx. 1.5 miles, make a sharp left onto Ridge Rd. Make your first Right onto Webber Rd. – the high school entrance is on your right – follow past the gym and park in the large lot there. I will have a door open to the auditorium directly from that lot that abuts the wrestling room.
